we discussed this in the discord server. the snippet is too short to really be anything and it wouldnt make sense for it to be in that song anyway.
I would say that there are many motifs that could be considered to "not make sense" to be there (like the supposed first "melody" in THE HOLY that some claim is in several other songs). In the evidence I provide, it's pretty clear that those first seven notes of His Theme are referenced in Another day in hometown, so I wouldn't consider it to be "too short".
It has the right first couple intervals, but the rhythm is wrong, it's too short of an excerpt to definitively be a usage of the motif, it matches harmonically with the main melody, and it doesn't have a clear thematic relevance for usage of Asriel's motif. It seems like this is more likely just a harmony that happens to use the same intervals but in an entirely different musical context, rather than an intentional usage of a motif.
Basically this. It's missing the very distinctive rhythm that Asriel's theme has, which is notable, and it's also missing notes too.
Cool. But if I EVER catch you guys adding the supposed "references" to Gaster's theme that some people claim can be found in several songs, then I WILL add back my edit, so don't go adding anything outlandish that disrespects what we discussed. Adios.
