I would like to announce I have found a theory with which I will defend as DracoBaltoy defends Papyrus KNIGHT.
SEAM FINAL SHADOW CRYSTAL BOSS THEORY
A lot of people claim they don't have motivation for this, but they do, and it's not their own freedom, it's the freedom of Kris from the SOUL...
What is their plan
RC: we have no reason to believe Seam knows about the whole Kris soul situation. I instead believe that Seam fights us to test if we are worthy of whatever they give you when you give them all the shadow crystals.
What do you mean "worthy"
RC: idk I'd assume the item is pretty powerful
I just don't get why whether or not you can beat Seam in a fight determines whether you have the "worth" to use the pure crystal
RC: yeah you're right I just think a seam fight would be cool but it actually happening is pure copium
I actually once had a theory about a Seam fight but I didn't really believe in it
I'll put it here just for you believers though, I think fighting Seam could be cool too, even though I don't see how exactly it should happen
My theory was based off of these two lines:

What is this feeling? ... Hope? Hahaha! Whatever it is, it's quite funny!
After it was revealed shadow crystals contain determination, I had the idea that Seam is close to passing away and may fight you trying to take the pure crystal to use determination in order to stay alive, and might end up dying in a similar way to the way Undyne dies if you kill her on the Neutral Route
This would be extremely dark and maybe a little out of character, but it's kinda cool to imagine
I will only consider this theory when you actually PLAY THE GAME
RC: I agree the way Seam is characterized in this makes it very clear you haven't actually played the game
Both people you mentioned in that sentence are non-binary.
Technically we can't be sure about either's gender but Kris's pronouns are definitely they/them
I don't think we can be sure about Seam's pronouns though so I wouldn't really police that in a conversational context
Although Toby uses they/them for Seam so if there's any pronouns for Seam it's gonna be they/them
Fangamer uses they/them on Seam's plush

Although there's not proof for that really so I'm not saying as a fact they are
