So I haven't really talked about Second Sagas at all on here (or anywhere for that matter), but yea I'm going to have a career in indie have development. Also, the Masked Man and Sinistrum are both characters from this game.
I haven't really started work on the game itself at all, but I have the entire plot and game mechanics in my brain so pls ask me about it
So basically a man with a mask destroyed the universe and created a bunch of smaller ones in its place so he could do experiments in them
After unrelated stuff going on, the characters in one of the new, smaller universes encounter a world-ending threat, a COLLAPSER DEMON, which intends to cause their current universe to collide with an adjacent one. Unbeknownst to the characters and even the demon itself, this was actually caused by the masked man.
The main character beats the demon (with the help of his fu[n!]ing gun) but gets sent into Limbo for it. After escaping, he finds out that he stopped the demon almost too late, but still fat enough to save both universes from destruction, so instead, both worlds actually combined.
Pretty soon the main character encounters a robot copy of himself whom he beats and who is the one to reveal the masked man's plans.
[Filler filler filler]
It takes a while because of his veritable arsenal of robotic copies but eventually they encounter the real one and the main character goes into his super form and it's the final boss and once they beat him he tries to destroy the universe again but he does in the process and they have to stop the universe from collapsing
So fairly early on in my Scratch career, I decided "I'm gonna make a silly little boss fight"
So I used the default cat sprite[1] and found a goofy little sprite of a photorealistic man.
I made the man shoot little clones of himself that deal damage but can be shot, and that was the basic premise of the boss fight.
Months passed, and I decided that I'd make a sequel. That sequel came, and it was way higher quality, with smoother bullet movement, a more challenging fight, and, most importantly, dialogue and even a little bit of lore. However, this wasn't the turning point quite yet. That would come with the first story animation.
This animation wasn't much, just a pretty simple animation that wasn't that hard to make, but it caused my work in Scratch game making to spiral out of control. After that came another boss fight followed by a stealth game and finally a completely new sort of boss fight.
It was while working on those last two projects that I realized: I would gain nothing from this. I genuinely wanted to turn this into a career, but I couldn't profit off of a series of small Scratch projects. I had to do something else.
So I interpreted the story[2] into a form that didn't infringe on copyright[3], and that's ended up being what Second Sagas is meant to be; it's going to be an indie game using some C engine, and while the gameplay isn't anything like those old boss fights, that's ok, because the mechanics I have in mind are totally badahh anyways.
with modifications of course, one of which being the fact that he has a literal gun ↩︎
which I had already composed in its entirety at that point ↩︎
because of the Scratch cat being the main character and some terms being unique to Scratch ↩︎
