so Ive been cooking with these and I have a really funny idea for the Titan fight so here it is...
"End of the line, huh...?" Susie said.
It certainly seemed like the end of the line. There was nowhere left to run. Below them, the darkness slithered and seethed. A shadow fell over them.
"Everybody stay strong. I have a plan." Echo said.
"Is it a stupid plan?" Ralsei asked.
"Well, yeah... but do you trust me?" They said nonchalantly.
"...I do." Ralsei said.
"Me too." Susie said.
"Then let's do this thing." Echo said.
The dark shape unfurled its wings, revealing the face of the Titan, and the Fun Gang raised their weapons. The battle had begun.
*Darkness constricts you... TP gain reduced outside of ???
*Echo chose ACT —> OFFER
*Susie chose DEFEND
*Ralsei chose DEFEND
*Echo offered the Titan a warm cinnamon bun from the old man's study. The Titan did not understand this...
*But it took the bun anyways.
*Titan's MERCY increased by 1%!
The Titan picked up the bun almost delicately in a massive hand, then put its hand over its face, protecting its weak point, and absorbed the cinnamon bun.
"Echo... I don't know how you did that, but I think I might see your plan..." Ralsei said. "It's crazy, that's for sure. But it just might work..."
A swarm of Titan spawn began climbing up over the sides of the shelf, trying to get to the three heroes. Echo's SOUL glowed brightly as they knocked the spawns back off the shelf and into the darkness below.
*The darkness gave a long gaze... which slithered like a snake.
*Echo chose ACT —> OFFER
*Susie chose ACT —> ENCOURAGE
*Ralsei chose MAGIC —> PACIFY... but it's not TIRED?
*Echo offered the Titan a delicious slice of butterscotch pie they had saved in their inventory since Chapter 2. The Titan did not understand this...
*But it took the pie anyways.
*Titan's MERCY increased by 2%!
*Susie hyped Echo up! Echo's will grows stronger, and their SOUL shines brighter!
*Ralsei cast PACIFY! The Titan's actions slowed.
The Titan leered closer to Echo, picking up the pie and absorbing it, this time less warily. As two snakes made out of the shadows emerged, Susie cheered Echo on from behind as they dispatched the snakes.
*The Titan's hands... begin to move once more...
*Echo chose ACT —> BECKON
*Susie chose ACT —> ENCOURAGE
*Ralsei chose MAGIC —> PACIFY
*Echo held out a leftover TVDINNER (It's all they've got left) and beckoned the Titan.
*Susie hyped Echo up! Echo's will grows stronger, and their SOUL shines brighter!
*Ralsei cast PACIFY! The Titan feels calmer now...
Echo held their breath, muttering to themself under their breath. "Please work, please work, please work..." The Titan loomed over the trio, casting a shadow over them. As they watched with bated breath, a small crack appeared in the star-shaped shield. The Titan sucked in the TV dinner and reformed its shield.
"Good Titan..." Echo muttered, edging forward. "Come here, Titan..."
The Titan came closer to the edge of the bookshelf. Echo reached out nervously and placed a hand on the Titan's forehead.
"Are you petting the Titan?" Susie whispered, in awe.
"I told you my plan was stupid." Echo said.
*Tension and uncertainty.
*Echo chose ACT —> BEFRIEND
*Susie chose DEFEND
*Ralsei chose ACT —> SOOTHE
*Echo gave the Titan more pets. The Titan did not understand this...
*But it liked it anyways.
*Titan's MERCY increased by 20%!
*Ralsei spoke softly to the Titan and gave it head pats.
*Titan's MERCY increased by 25%!
The Titan made a deep rumbling sound like a malfunctioning vent might make in the middle of the night while you're trying to sleep. Though the little Titan spawn were still seething around it and trying to get up onto the shelf, nothing attacked them. It was quiet.
"Oh, hey, you three! Looks like you got this situation under control, gya ha ha! Still thought I'd see if you needed a hand."
Susie whipped around. "Old man! What are you doing here?"
"Eh, I needed a change of scenery. When I saw that you three were up here, I thought you might be in trouble." the old man said. "What are you guys up to, by the way, if you don't mind me asking?"
"Taming a Titan." Echo said. "I actually have an idea... but it's a little far-fetched... and it might not work."
"Everything's worth a try, in my opinion. Tell us what you got, kid!" the old man said.
"Alright, let's try this out..." Echo said.
*The darkness' gaze softens...
*Echo chose ACT —> PURIFY (with Susie, Ralsei, and the Old Man)
*Echo's SOUL shone brightly! Susie's SOUL shone with Echo's! Ralsei's SOUL joined them! The old man's SOUL gleamed brilliantly!
*The darkness is being stripped away... Titan's MERCY increased by 100%!
*Echo SPARED the Titan! Titan was added to your RECRUITS!
For a moment, nobody could see anything. Then the light subsided, and there, on the edge of the shelf, stood the Titan.
All of the Titan spawn had been dissolved in the blast, as had the bulk of its body, leaving a much more diminished, humanoid form. They promptly collapsed, snoring loudly.
Echo picked the Titan up. "I guess I'll just put them in my inventory and... let's seal that fountain."
"Wait, where's the old man? I need to talk to him." Susie said. "I think he went this way..."
She ran ahead. Ralsei turned to Echo, then looked back at the walkway.
"Wait, Susie, no!" he said.
He ran after Susie, leaving Echo alone. Echo shrugged. That seemed like it went well.
*The Titan was added to your inventory... somehow...
Echo sensed that they were being watched. They turned around. The Roaring Knight hovered in the air behind them, looking at Echo with a clear sense of distaste.
"Aww, someone's salty..." Echo said tauntingly.
The Knight tilted its head, considering Echo.
"Can't blame ya, though. I mean, you did your best. Spawned a Titan and all, for goodness sake!" Echo said. "Gave me a real run for my money, it did."
The Knight drifted closer to Echo. Neither of them drew their weapons. Their pseudo-truce held still.
"You know? Honestly, I want to thank you. Without you, Ralsei would be alone. Susie would have no friends. All the Darkeners I've recruited... they'd still be alone or discarded. I really owe it all to you. And that prophecy? I don't care what it says. I'm very stubborn like that." Echo said.
If Echo didn't know better, they might have thought that the Knight was smiling.
"Tomorrow."
"The festival?"
"Yes."
"See you soon... Echo."
