Why can't dess be the knight?

Wait, but if Asriel's the one in the code, then where the hell's Dess?

(Also, isn't the "Don't Forget" part in one of the UNUSED code alluding that it is Dess? The song Don't Forget seems pretty connected to Dess, specially with the "I'm with you in the dark" line, a line that's repeated in Raise Up your Bat, which is another song connected to Dess...)

  • Person in the dark, singing “Don't forget” to someone else: Dess
  • Person in the code, saying “don't forget” to themselves: Asriel
  • Person who drew the “don't forget” picture we found in Undertale: Susie

“Don't forget” is one of the main themes of the game, not to be monopolized by a single character.

Not during Noelle's house, during the Chapter 1 ending

Where is the code tho
if Dess can become trapped in it then it has a physical manifestation
right

It may be somewhere near the depths

and where perchance would that be

In da bunkah

The problem with Dess being the Knight is that it takes away from the characters' motivations. If Dess' whereabouts are unknown (and by deduction the voice in the UNUSED code), then it's pretty obvious that Carol and Kris are working with the Knight to find where Dess is, as her dissapeareance is tied to the Dark Worlds. But if the Knight is Dess, then suddenly there's no reason for them to work with the Knight, as they've already found her; if anything, they'd want to fight the Knight so they can unleash Dess from the darkness she's been consumed by.

so the bunker has a big pit leading to the depths which is an underground resivour of sorts?

I mean, judging by the fact that you open a dark fountain by stabbing into the earth and opening a crack of sorts which allows the darkness to pour in from beneath and the fact that the darkness and shadows get compared to water constantly makes the depths or the dark that forms the dark worlds being in a "reservoir" under Hometown a very plausible theory

Also Flowery says that "something horrible is stirring underneath the town". What if he meant it literally? The darkness and by exthention the depths are physically beneath Hometown and the shelter is an entry point to this whole reservoir. That's why the gaster sound is heard (albeit muffled, in contrast to the dark worlds where it's loud and clear on the cell phone, which again suggests that the dark worlds are closer to the depths physically than the light world) only there and in the Holiday Manor basement, which is again physically beneath the ground level.
I mean, there's probaby like a thousand theories on youtube that are identical to this.

So.
Underground lake theory.
You know where Sans Undertale lives?
In Snowdin.
You know what surrounds Snowdin?
A lake.
A cold lake. Like, the kind that would have snow drifting onto it. The kind that, if someone fell in, they might freeze to their grave.
What if.
WHAT IF...

Lakegraves
Kris and No L fucking died and there won't be new content theory

Gaster uses time travel and forces Toby to make new content theory

You won't convince me that Dess is the voice in the code just by repeating the assertion. Use arguments.

I don't believe that Carol is working with the Knight. The Knight is a force of change, while Carol is on the side of stagnation.

Kris is working with the Knight, but that doesn't mean Carol knows about it. Kris is playing both sides.

triple truce theory?

I believed this since before that video came out (and thus connected to the triple trucies in Cyber City), but yeah.

peak

Doesn't Tenna explicitly mention the Knight making a deal in Chapter 3 despite the fact that we know the Knight never arrived at that Fountain until the very end of Chapter 3 and that it was made by Kris?

That seems kinda far-fetched imo. I don't really see the "change-stagnation" contrast you're getting at; specially considering that the Knight's objective is to start the Roaring, which will turn every darkner into stone, and you can't get more stagnate than a stone.

The point I was getting at in that comment wasn't why Dess was the one in the code; I already explained my arguments in a comment above. The line that appears in UNUSED, "Don't Forget", is heavily tied to Dess' dissapeareance, and not just a general theme in the game; it's about the characters refusing to forget about Dess, even when her existentence is slowly fading.

In fact, even if Carol turns out to not be working with the Knight, or that Asriel is the one in the code, it doesn't change that Dess' whole theme is being missing. The Holidays' theme is called "Lost Girl", and the secret room you get by typing 1225 has playing in the background a file called "findher". If Dess is already present as the Knight, then who is the one that's lost and needs to be found?
