I thought he reads your face or something and realizes what you did in a previous timeline, and when you hide behind the conveniently shaped lamp, he destroys it and says "how inconvenient" but papaya still doesn't notice and if you inspect the destroyed lamp it says "it's a very inconveniently shaped pile of dust"
