Several characters are slightly different in DELTARUNE, for example Jerry becoming Terry (and popular). Since complete character reversals are possible, it could be possible that in DELTARUNE, Chara could be an older child of Toriel and Asgore’s, and was abandonned at an early age for some reason. (Maybe before-marriage childbirth?), leading to Chara hating Lightners and wanting to cause the Roaring, perhaps being the Knight’s commander (After all, SOMEONE knighted the Knight.)
So this theory could be possible, although we might want to look for signs in Toriel and Asgore first, or perhaps the Knight.

Chara, during their life, hated Humanity, even though they were a human. This means that they probably hated Humanity for “rightous” reasons, or just deeply traumitising trauma. However, after they died, their SOUL was likely destroyed through unknown means (maybe was left behind on surface, but after Asriel died their body tumbled back down, evidenced by their tomb being in the Underground.)
Since their SOUL was left behind, they became Flowey-ish, but since they already hated Humanity, this was to an even greater extent, leading them to become…
“The demon that comes when people call its name”.
…Which lead to them destroying the world in a Genocide run.
They likely wanted the Frisk’s SOUL to feel emotions again, although this did not work, as the timeline was reset, along with other factors I’m forgetting.
