Crack Theory: Kris Has Always Had A Friend Inside Them
I don't really know where to start with this tbh
Kris has a birdcage in their room with a blood splatter. No known characters would fit in there (with the exception of Darkners and the SOUL we play as), so it is very weird it's even in there. I propose it is in there because Kris had a previous SOUL before us, just like our SOUL Kris put them in the birdcage. Also, blood splatter? Did Kris hurt themselves fighting the SOUL before putting it in the cage (and presumably getting rid of it/losing it)? Did they fight Asriel and draw blood (why would they even do that)? Did they hurt the SOUL and draw blood (why did we never see blood in the Chapter 4 Weird Route when they kicked the trash can coming from our SOUL)? Did they kill the SOUL and that made a mess of blood?
If we assume they killed the previous SOUL, that would explain their shaky voice Noelle mentions. If they had no SOUL for a period of time before the events of Deltarune then they would act the way they do without us. (Also, Kris is seemingly only restricted in entering Dark Worlds without the SOUL, no other negative side effects seem to happen [though their life might be tied to the SOUL's life since Chapter 4 Weird Route causes them to take damage? Maybe they got put in the Hospital to recover and we're in a "fallen down" like state after killing the SOUL?].) Maybe Gaster/Voice actually intended to put us in Kris and only had the Vessel be made so that they could lure us into Deltarune. Maybe it's a backup in case Kris tries to kill us like the previous SOUL.
This could explain why Kris works with the Roaring Knight, as they might have offered to help Kris get rid of the SOUL's control or Gaster/Voice.
Noelle mentions in Chapter 4 that Kris would use the heart pillows and pretend to rip their SOUL out and chase her, which is very odd if they haven't had a SOUL before.
For the truly Crack section of this Theory (Say that again?), I propose Kris did not kill the SOUL. The SOUL is simply somewhere else, separate from Kris in the same why our SOUL is separated from them in the Light World. I propose that this previous SOUL is Ralsei. He travels between Dark Worlds because he is a Lightner yet he is also a Darkner. Somewhat like a Dustner, but he has a SOUL as a physical form he can use in the Light World because he never died.
