I personally find the plot of most Pokémon games kind of strange.

So Pokémon basically just fill the role of everyday animals, except that people sometimes make them fight each other.
In most Pokémon games, you're also given a pokedex to fill out.
The pokedex is the point.
The concept of it is so strange, not on its own, but in its role in the game.
You get it... completely empty.
Now in Legends: Arceus this makes sense, since it's a historical era and mankind may not have even invented it yet.
But in the games set in more modern times, what's the point of it? You're basically just getting handed an empty animal dictionary and forced to fill it out with only a team of dogs to help you.

I think the concept of Pokemon is messed up if you think about it too hard.
Also, animal pokemon are mentioned rarely as a classification, as are animal products like meat, although animals themselves are never seen.
The Pokedex is likely just mostly about keeping track of which Pokemon you have,, rather than garnering information.
Evolution probably has different meaning or is a homophone (homograph? I forgot. Basically one word, two meanings.)
Also, there's plenty of bipedal animals but I get your point.
