Well the thing with shaders is that you need Optifine (or similar things) to load them. Most of those things improve FPS substantially as well.

Really? Every modded minecraft installation I've played has used Optifine and there's nothing wrong with it as far as I can tell
You can press C to zoom in and it allows shader usage, as well as buffing my general fps to like ~700-800
Only gripe I have with it is it doesn't work with Cracker's Wither Storm Mod, which means I have atrocious lag in my Wither Storm World, or at least bad stuttering. And of course, if Optifine wasn't in use I'm sure it'd be way way worse.
