On the Deltarune Wiki, we have subpages for NPCs that do not have enough noteworthy content for their own articles. These are separated by location, and they document where the NPC first appears.
However, one major problem that we have run into lately is that this categorization falls flat if the NPC appears in multiple different locations. For those who are unaware, we have been working on splitting off numerous NPCs, both in the Light World and in the Dark World, to their own separate pages, which somewhat alleviates this problem. For the remaining NPCs though, we may have to try a different approach.
For Card Kingdom and Cyber World specifically, we separate NPC pages by Dark World sublocation (Field, Forest, Cyber Field, etc.). This may have made sense in 2018, when Card Kingdom was the only Dark World at the time, but the newer chapters showed us that such an approach made these individual pages small and somewhat hard to keep track of. Thus, I propose the following:
We should merge Field NPCs, Forest NPCs, and Card Castle NPCs into a greater Card Kingdom NPC page, and Cyber Field NPCs, Cyber City NPCs, and Queen’s Mansion NPCs into a greater Cyber World NPCs page.
Pros
- A larger Dark World NPCs page means that each Darkner that appears in the Dark World would be available to read about in a single page. No extra clicking required.
- We would be able to address the issue of NPCs appearing in multiple locations within the Dark World (as is the case of City Werewire and Icon Man, which are currently duplicated across two Cyber World NPC pages).
Cons
- We will not have infoboxes for these NPCs. This is a technical issue. When Hometown/NPCs used to have infoboxes for each NPC, it ended up causing issues on the backend when we forked from Fandom, so we had to remove most of them. However, as we continue to split off more NPCs, we may consider adding them back in the future.
We currently have drafts for these pages that @Link provided, which can be viewed at Card Kingdom/NPCs and Cyber World/NPCs.
