What if the swap is monsters and humans?! Humans lose the war instead of monsters, so they get trapped under Mt Ebott instead!
And then instead of humans falling down, monsters do!
So, fun fact: I did play with this idea for Pixelswap, where a human somehow made it to the surface and was trying to release the other humans, but after a day or two I realized it doesn’t really work that well for my purposes.
