Why can there be so many Dark Fountains open and not cause the Roaring?
I've seen many people ask this, and I think if we view Fountains as Milk, it'll make them understand it more.
Dark Fountains are Cups of Milk
Core Premise:
Dark Fountains operate like individual cups filled with milk. As long as these "cups" remain separated and contained, multiple Fountains can coexist without triggering the Roaring. The Roaring only occurs when a Fountain is opened inside an existing Dark World, effectively "overfilling the cup."
What We Know:
-
The Role of Grand Doors as Barriers:
Grand Doors act like sealed compartments (or boxes) around each cup. Fountains separated by these barriers (Card Castle ↔ Castle Town in Ch1, Church Entrance ↔ Church Hall in Ch4) don’t interact, preventing overflow. -
Chapter 3-4 Revelations Break Linear Assumptions:
We now know Fountains can exist in close proximity (the Church’s dual Fountains in Ch4) without immediate disaster, so long as Grand Doors compartmentalize them. -
The "Overflow" = Titan Formation:
Opening a Fountain inside an existing Dark World (the Knight’s actions in the church) is like pouring milk into an already full cup. This "overflow" bypasses containment, flooding the "room" and creating Titans. -
Why Distance Alone Isn’t Enough (Ch4’s Problem):
Even with 4+ Fountains active in one town (Castle Town + Bunker + Church duo), the Roaring didn’t occur because:-
Grand Doors or a barrier isolated each Fountain (cups in separate boxes).
-
However: The Knight’s new Fountain inside the Church Dark World lacked a barrier, causing immediate overflow → Titan.
