I honestly have a theory
--obviously spoilers for chapters 3 and 4—
so we all know about December, Noelle's missing sister, right?
inside of the music Raise Up Your Bat ralsei sings during the Lost Girl leitmotif that it says "Because I'm with you in the dark, with your heart as my mark which shall guide you the way"
this line I have a feeling of a theory, what if the SOUL is actually Dess' soul?

this little theory started when I saw a youtube video that depicted dess as a human with the same type of "antler" headband, kind of like Kris' horns they wore as a child. In chapter 4 we also see shoes (although they are for hooves, it seems weird that noelle and the rest of the holiday family do not wear or even have shoes), which might be a remeniscent of Dess being human
going to Kris, they have us, the SOUL, which is almost clearly not Kris' original soul. The lines inside of Raise Up Your Bat with the leitmotif makes it seem like the soul might just be Dess' soul (since dess is the only other one with the leitmotif other than noelle), and the words "as my mark" might mean that the soul is Dess' mark, and "heart" refers to the soul ([[HeartShapedObject]]) and "guide you the way" is what we as the player are doing right now, "guiding" Kris through whatever is going on.
this would also somewhat make sense bcs if Dess is human and is in the dark world as the knight, she would be trapped, except for the few moments where she runs in the overworld between dark worlds. It also explains why Kris has a save file, bcs if Kris' original soul shattered and dess gave up her soul for kris then kris would be the one free, and no one else would know about what happened
please help me i just randomly thought up of this and if it SOMEHOW turns out to be true i will absolutely scream

I’m fairly sure that Voice states quite clearly at the beginning that YOU, the player, are the soul, and there’s also heavy indication of that elsewhere in the game

tbh idk why but then why did someone at the start of chapter one say "Your name is" and then cuts off
very clearly it is an undertale situation where when you fall down asriel says "you have fallen down! Chara? That's a nice name" which frisk replies with "My name is" and cuts off
so idk but it seems like the soul belongs to someone other than you the player
i'm just asking if there is an explaination for this then yea go ahead

Why is my soul red

I feel like I would have a different color

There are at least seven colors

Why does everybody (any person could play Deltarune) have a red soul and only fictional people have other colors

Also magic isn’t real and stuff

The soul is controlled by me but it can’t just come from me myself
