Dess is literally trapped behind a closed door in the code.
But nobody wants to acknolwedge the unused text anymore because it deconfirms Dess Knight
She’s missing. There’s no way she’s out in the open opening fountains
And now that I think of it in Chaoter 4 we learned the Knight is wearing a helmet
So the antlers could be a giant red herring now that I think about it
It could just be the helmet
I still think it’s either Carol or an Amalgamte-like thing designed by Gaster but it doesn’t actually have to be a Holiday
Still like the only Lightners we know for a fact cannot be the Knight are Kris, Susie, Asriel, and DESS.
Like has the whole fandom collectively refused to acknowledge the UNUSED_ strings?
We got new ones for Chapters 3 and 4 by the way but nobody talked about them on this wiki
They were a big thing people talked about back in Chapter 1 and 2 but now it’s just no longer talked about and the new ones were ignored
Probably because it conflicts with Dess Knight
I am INVESTED in the story the UNUSED strings are weaving. Also, I'm not a Dess Knight person, and also also it could TECHNICALLY still be Dess or Azzy, as nobody knows their current wherabouts (everyone assumes Azzy's at college still, and Dess went missing). Who the person in the UNUSED strings is has yet to be confirmed.
Asriel’s at college. If he was at Hometown, they’d know he wasn’t at college.
He’s the least impossible out of the four I gave though since at least there’s not double de-confirmation like there is with Dess

That is where Dess probably went missing after all. When the four all went to the bunker together
Though hm, the person in there not being Dess… I’ll have to take another look at what we know about both Dess and this person to see if it’s possible to have them be two separate characters
I mean, I can check the UNUSED strings again, but I'm pretty sure that there's nothing in there that identifies the speaker at all. People just kinda assumed it was Dess since she's missing.

Whoever UNUSED is would be reported missing, since nobody was able to find them, and they’re trapped behind some door. So probably Dess, but I suppose it’s possible someone else is missing, Dess being missing isn’t really talked about anymore by anyone other than Noelle, everyone sort of forgot about that by the time the game starts, so it seems cases don’t just get remembered forever.
It would be really funny if it turned out to be Asriel though
Though I don’t think that’s possible, I’m pretty sure the university would have informed Toriel about Asriel being absent.
Everything so far points to Dess, though I suppose it’s true we don’t have direct confirmation. Evidence is seriously strong though

*Dess presumably went missing into the bunker, which we know from the end of Chapter 3 is either a Dark World or something even darker than that
*UNUSED is trapped behind a physical door and the bunker is a locked door, and the place she’s trapped in is also dark
So that’s independent evidence of both Dess and UNUSED having gone missing in the bunker specifically
I don't think people forgot about Dess being missing. They just don't talk about it because whatever happened to CAUSE her to go missing is something that they'd MUCH rather forget about. That's why Susie says "Noelle's sister..." in Chapter 2 when inspecting the angel doll.
Also, where do the UNUSED strings mention a door besides their nightmare?
The strings imply what’s happening is the same AS the nightmare.
Also the scratching being heard from somewhere implies there exists there is an other side to the wall.
By the way, entering a door and the door magically closing matches both what happens at the start of chapter 1 with the closet with us, and what happens at the end of chapter 3 with the bunker with Undyne. (Could have been the Knight both times?)
I'm not a Dess-Knight person because of the UNUSED strings. It could still be her, but I'm not convinced of it.
It's still for sure not Carol though. I'm certainly convinced of that.
Well, I think UNUSED is just speculating as to their predicament, as they also say "Or was everything else a dream?". As for the scratching... I don't know. One thing we know is that they are most likely in a Dark World, but something makes that fact weird to me: The fact that they never have to eat or drink. In chapter 1, Susie mentions that no matter how much she eats in there, she still doesn't feel full. This implies that, even in a Dark World, you still have to eat and drink, but foods there aren't REAL per se (Ex: Dark Candy are smellable stickers, Darkburgers are blackened crumbs) so they don't fill you. However, wherever UNUSED is, they DON'T need food or water, so where are they? Not a Dark World, if you still need food in them.

We’re actually supposed to visit Kris’ house one last time before we go to the church. And we already know since Carol came out that she was already done talking to Noelle.
She probably just said something like “ “Susie. Is. Trouble. Never. Let. Her In. This House. AGAIN.”
Carol is a good candidate.
But Gaster-Amalgam might actually be an even better one it explains everything else about the Knight

Carol wasn’t supposed to arrive for hours, but because Kris called her about the guitar she came early to take the guitar away
(Kris could have called Carol during one of the timeskips in the Weird Route as well, like the time between ominous_worse (THAT scene) and tinnitus (The trash can scene immediately after) so Weird Route doesn’t debunk Carol Phone. And besides who else could phone be? Carol and Asgore were the only one people who actually came, and Phone said they’d be right there. Could it be Asgore? No, because Asgore did absolutely nothing about Susie and the guitar. It’s Carol. So Phone is Carol. Though it’s up in the air whether or not she’s also the Knight)
If that's was all there was to it, she wouldn't have told Noelle to go to the kitchen. She would have told that right there on the living room. She sent Noelle to another room in the house because she wanted to be alone with her, and I don't see how anything else that could follow it can be over this quickly.
Look at how Noelle reacted. She's was dreading what was about to happen.
Carol only left the kitchen to see Kris out. She would have just gone back afterwards.
This isn't the only reason I think the Knight is not Carol. The way the Knight acts in the Dark Sanctuary is completely different from the little we saw from Carol. When we fight the Knight in Chapter 3 it uses no ice or snow attack, which Carol would absolutely have in the Dark World.

Not for a moment I thought that the person on the other end was the Knight. Not even on my first playthrough.
I sway towards either carol OR rudy, but since my man has no reps atm I'm going for him
