What I think Toby means by only one ending

I think when Toby says that there’s “Only one ending” I think that means that the characters will be in the same situations/ positions no matter the route, but the actual finale will vary depending on the route.

For example, if at the end of the normal route, we have Kris loses hand, Susie is dead, Ralsei is fine, and Noelle is the angel, all that will still end up that way on the weird route, just the way they get there is very different.

it could also mean:

  1. a reset
  2. or ending in this case means everything is destroyed

Crack theory, what if the angel is similar to the undertale angel (check gerson shop dialogue in ut), who will either free or kill everyone in undertale, with 2 different things happening in deltarune leading to the same ending...

Both of those feel like they’d just be massive cop-outs. For a game to build up so much to the ending, only for the ending to be a reset/ universe destruction just doesn’t make any sense.

Agreed

Undertale genocide did do that though, several times

Undyne says Asgore will absorb the souls and become a god, he dies instantly

Mettaton NEO is hyped up to be strong af then gets one hit

I think there will be at least one route with a universe destruction or reset or both, I agree with you if most endings are just dissatisfying then it would suck, however i think one of these might be healthier for deltarune then having no cop-out

Although deltarune and undertale are meant to be distinct they're ultimately similar

I think maybe there will be one ending

After seeing 2019 chapter 5 concept art...yeah, I think he's got the whole thing planned out. OP seems to be right, more-or-less.

:gerson:You can't do that here!

TRUE, BUT KNOW THIS LARPER!

I SHALL NOT QUESTION WHY YOU DON'T PLAY THE GAMES BUT THAT WON'T STOP ME FROM PESTERING YOU!

:friend:

that's saying that they're both important, not that one is an appropriate substitute for the other

Well I think that's good enough to wave away the noxious smell of pesterment without reason.
