Jevilstail has it's feats but Devilsknife is just 10x better in most cases and I feel the only reason people think the jevilstail is better is because of chapter 2 era speedrunners since alot of them glazed the jevilstail and due to there only being 2 chapters at that time so the best gear was pretty objective.
I think that's just symbolizes the magic boost you get from fighting gerson in general, or just nothing at all. in persons dialogue he says some stuff like "a Smith gives the heroes a terrible weapon" so I think that means the justiceaxe doesn't have a special ability or any other stats that it boosts other than attack. (also I accidentally pressed some flag thing on your comment when trying to figure out how to quote I hope that didn't do anything)
Devilsknife is also only equippable on Susie, and who knows whether she'll be back in the party.
There are two meanings to terrible; one is bad, which seems to be how you’re interpreting it. The other is extremely formidable, which I personally think is what it means.
Also if that ??? doesn’t ever turn into anything I give you full right to say “I told you so” after chapter 7 comes out
