I was existing today and I found out that So Sorry exists (kinda embarrassing, I know). I noticed that they drop 1 EXP upon death. I was curious if this could be used in a funny way to mess with the LOVE system. According to this spreadsheet, Jerry is another enemy that gives 1 EXP and Whimson gives 2 EXP. Does this mean that if you did a genocide run where you killed everyone but 1 Whimson, and then made sure to kill Jerry and So Sorry, you could get back to the typical genocide EXP level, therefore going back to a genocide route? If you could, this would mean staying on a genocide route while also skipping many genocide bosses too, which would be funny.
Unfortunately no, you couldn't get back to a normal genocide EXP level, since Undyne the Undying rewards three times as much EXP as regular Undyne, you'd be missing 1000 EXP by fighting her normal form.
Plus, since you can only kill Dummy on genocide as Glad Dummy, that's another 200 EXP missed out on.
Dang, thought there was something there
“I was existing today” is the greatest intro to a post ever
oh shoot I forgot about that… The only other optional way to gain EXP that I can think of is Glyde, but that only awards 100 EXP, so still not possible. I also wonder if you somehow were able to get to that EXP level with a save editor or something, you would actually get to the genocide route.
Wait would it work with glyde??? You could instead do the run and un-abort the genocide route there in snowdin because its before undyne the undying or the dummy!!!
There's also probably flags in the code to identify whether or not you met the kill count in Ruins. Remember the save points from Snowdin onwards in genocide saying [[Number]] left? Yeah, that doesn't happen if the kill count isn't met so, no.
Plus, it doesn't count as aborting the route if you never started it in the first place.
If you don't exhaust the kill quota (or whatever it's called I forgor) you never start geno. And also abort geno. You CAN get to lvl 19 by sparing either RG01 and RG02 or Muffet, but still killing everyone in Hotland/CORE afterwards, but you don't fight Sans, since you haven't met all the necissary flags.
DANG IT ITS SO CLOSE
