The King has a piece flaking off of him (I think)

I believe the king has the shadow mantle, with the shadow mantle being a layer of the card flaking off, due to their mantle being the same color as King's torso, and flaking off after a battle makes sense if its already partially flaking off.

What do you think?
NOTE: Stop arguing about what is, and isn't a mantle.

Timestamped a bit before for context but literally Toby Fox at 3:05:45 about King's cape flying away

"COOL MANTLE BRO."

I hate Toby
It could be canon
it could be theory bait
WHO THE HELL KNOWS
:friend: :ralsplat:

Technically it could just be what the king is wearing a mantle, but in the light world is the flake
I hate theory crafting, back to my egg cave I suppose

King's not...that old, is he?

hes balding

That's a cape, not a mantle.

I mean it's canon that the cards got put in the storage room after King (the king of spades card) got ripped (that's the mouth in his stomach)

so it is quite possible there's a piece of him flaking off

as he is probably from an older/more worn deck

Uuuuhhhh, he literally says in chapter 5 that that's the scar on his face

i thought it was the mouth??? anyways my point still stands

I mean, if his mantle is actually not the ShadowMantle then it's a pretty nice headcannon

That's just from his design in the original illustrated card deck Toby took the card-related characters from.
Lancer also has a belly mouth in that design, so who knows maybe his mouth forms when he grows up or something

It's also a different color then Eram, who is headcanonned to be either wearing or is the shadow mantle, but that relies on that head canon.

No the Mouth is also Reflected on Spade Queen’s Card. So no it’s just how the Spade Cards are.

I mean it also shows one of Lancer’s Many Brothers on the Design so maybe it could happen and that’s why you can have multiple lancers. Lancer could be a more serious character with the mouth developed even, Maybye actually going into the regal role.

Lancer's puberty and hormones theory
