It's just... a very strange item. It has practically no use, you can only either sell it in a shop (which is very random of a function) and its sell value becomes bigger with each chapter, or use it to spare a single group of enemies (that being a few Rudinns) instantly, which is even more random. And it's literally the first item you can get in the game (not counting the wrist protector from the 2018 demo), and the first item in a game is usually at least a bit significant, right? It's also found only in chapter 1 and chapter 3 as far as I remember, and only these chapters have the purple cliff locations in their dark worlds. Maybe it will get a normal use in chapters 6 or 7 (hehehe), when we inevitably return to the cliffs?
I suggest keeping it in your storage if you replay the game. I have a strong feeling we'll get to use it properly later...
Glowshard in Chapter 1 can be used up to instantly spare Rudinns.
Glowshard is a counterpart to DogDollar which decreases in value every chapter.
First damage done by an image_friend is based on inventory slot value, so Dogdollar becomes useful. The inverse to a dog item useful against cats is...?

I am doing everything in my power to not mention Hands, Echidna, or Enemy.
You can also get it in chapter 2 in Queen's Mansion
Also from chapter 3 ball machine

Oh right I forgot about that
Well, I'm pretty sure I did say chapter 3 in the post ![]()
I brought this up primarily because it's the first item you get in the game, and it has such unimportant random uses that it becomes pretty suspicious for me. Also factor in that "It's use is unknown." description...
Something something 'it would be 'funny' if they were potentially useable to make temporary safe zones during whatever the roaring is'
I mean, considering how easy it is to farm money, the value is super undertuned.

Hands, Echidna, and Enemy Must Be Mentioned for why Glowshard works so well.
It wouldn’t be funny but I have been saving them after all this time, collecting the chapter 2 and 1 glowshards and getting as many of the chapter 3 shards as possible. If there are other shards I also got them.
Same here
If they don’t have a use outside of money after all then at least we have a good amount of money in the last chapter
what if there's some really hard enemies in chapter 7 like titans or titan half-spawns that we can cheese by sparing them with Glowshard
This is something I've hinted at a bunch of times re: my entire 'spr_nondescript_room_hands is probably the 'true' sprite for Enemy/is also a funny meta layer of the game thing like image_friend' stuff;
funny hand snake paralleling the chapter 1 rudinns by being insta-spareable with the glowshards would be cutes.
I'm half certain it was just put in the game to troll us by making it seem like it'll be great to sell in a later chapter, but now that we're in much later chapters we get so much more money than before that it's overall less worth it to sell since you could probably get more money from a single enemy encounter
Then the DogDollar wouldn’t exist. We must Get a Dogwidow Counterpart.
