Homophobia doesn't quite fit under the normal definition of "phobia."
Homophobia is where you are actively hostile to people who identify as queer, through things such as hate speech and discrimination.
It's not the same type of phobia as arachnophobia. Something like arachnophobia is an actual, rational fear of something, in this case being spiders, likely either due to the gross look of them or the fact that they are often venomous.
Your comparison is not a valid one to make in this situation.
