Officially, chapters 1 & 2 were a free demo of the full release, which was this year, despite three chapters still not being out yet.
Well, the answer probably depends on context. The 2018 Survey Program release was a free demo, which might be considered like the 2013 demo for Undertale. However, Undertale is generally considered to have released in 2015, since that’s when the full game was being made available for money. Considering the episodic releases of Deltarune, I think it’d make more sense to consider it to have began in 2018 and completed whenever that happens to happen, with the 2025 release only really being relevant if talking about chapters 3 and 4 specifically.
