I think the don’t forget/beginning motif should be considered as having a part 1 melody and a pet 2 melody

I think that 0:07-0:16 from beggining should be considered the part 1 motif with 0:17-019 being considered as part 2 motif.

The reason I think this is because the part 2 is used very oftenly all by itself, with the part 1 being completely absent from it. For example: the world revolving only contains only the part 2, the dark truth only contains part 2, scarlet forest only contains part 2, your power ESPECIALLY contains only part 2, and many more songs also only having part 2 in it.

The part 1 melody is also sometimes repeated before going into the part 2 melody. With the best example of this that I can think of right now being the field of hopes and dreams from 1:01 to 1:27 before then repeating the part 2 melody a couple of times.

With how both parts are being used i think it’s pretty safe to say that it should be considered as having a part 1 and a part 2. especially because the part 1 doesn’t even appear most of the time in the songs that have the motif.

Aslong as nobody responds to this im just going to assume that I shouldn’t change it to a part 1 and a part 2 on the leitmotifs page.

Also now that I remember it, 0:39-0:44 in don’t forget sound like 0:25-0:30, 0:50-0:53, 1:18-1:22 in friends and I think a couple other songs too, but this is probably a bit of a stretch so im not adding it anywhere unless other people agree.

Well, you have good points here. I vote for cutting the leitmotif in two.

I don’t think we should cut it in two. Instead we should just term that final phrase the “don't forget cadence” or the “with you in the dark part”

The second part of Don't Forget is isolated often enough (and these are just from Chapter 1):

  • School (0:28)
  • THE WORLD REVOLVING (1:21)
  • Your Power
  • A Town Called Hometown (1:01)
  • You Can Always Come Home (0:57)

that it should be documented separately somehow, but idk what to call it.

I personally call it (and this is NOT a good idea for the wiki) the "they/the m" motif (pronounced "they the M") as an inside joke with some of my irl friends.

Because of this video

they_the m

Which, if Discussions let me upload the mp4 instead of making me transcode it to a soundless gif, would have Your Power playing over it.

tl;dr: We need some way of distinguishing the songs that use the full leitmotif[1] from those that just use the second part[2] on the leitmotifs page. We could split "Don't Forget" into a part 1 and 2 or say something like "School—0:28-0:42 (Only second part[3])" and leave the tracks with the full melody with no note.

  1. Beginning 0:07, Field of Hopes and Dreams 0:53, etc. ↩︎

  2. Your Power, THE WORLD REVOLVING 1:21, etc. ↩︎

  3. or whatever we want to call those two measures ↩︎
