We don't have to be the only civilisation to be alone in the universe. The solar system itself has a massive amount of scale, and probes can take 50 years and not even breach the heliopause. The distance to the nearest solar system (which has nearly nothing by the way) is stupidly far and therefore there is basically no practical hope of getting there (4 light years away — even if we unlock light relative speeds that'll be hard, and we are NOT unlocking that anytime soon)
not only that, we also have to deal with meteors. If you speed up an object fast enough and put stationary objects in its way it'll be the same as those stationary objects moving at that certain speed towards the moving object. So if we get a ship 2% the speed of light, we'll get meteors flying into it at literally nuclear speeds. there is no engineering physical way to breach the solar system practically, meaning that we could be stuck here, doomed to die in a few billion years or so.
you know what that means? if teleportation doesn't exist, we're trapped forever.
