The connection quickening? Makes sense, we’re getting two chapters at once instead of one.
We need Gaster to be able to play the game. Gaster needs us to do that to make that new future. We’re a pivotal part of his experiment. He’s our only way of making a connection to Deltarune’s world
That’s the needing each other thing, at least my take on it.

Okay, ONCE more. Chapter 3+4 is ONE connection. Not two. So the lore idea of each chapter being its own connection is debunked, it’s only each release. But that could also be big, it implies the demos having existed before and being unfinished back then are in the meta-canon.
