DELTARUNE tracks that play diegetically

I haven't seen anyone attempt this before, so here it goes - a list of DELTARUNE tracks that play diegetically, i.e. which can be heard by in-universe characters. Please note that this list is definitely not Wiki-quality because I'm making a lot of assumptions.

Tracks that appear to sync with the environment, tracks that can be played in Castle Town's Music Shop, and hidden tracks (which aren't renditions of existing tracks) are not counted.

Chapter 1 OST

  • Rude Buster - See Zapper's Mute and VolumeUp ACTs in Chapter 3.
  • Lancer (3/4 rendition) - Kris plays it on the piano in Noelle's house in Chapter 4.
  • Vs. Lancer - Lancer plays it on a tuba in Castle Town after the end of Chapter 4.
  • April 2012 - Played on the boombox in the clubs room of Card Castle.

Chapter 2 OST

  • Ohhhhohohoho! - Queen's laughter.
  • Simple Diversion - Played inside an in-universe boxing video game.
  • When I Get Mad I Dance Like This - Played by K_K, as evident by music notes coming out of him.
  • Cyber Battle and When I Get Happy I Dance Like This - Sweet says "Play some battle music!" to K_K before the battle.
  • Mini Studio and Holiday Studio - Played by Sweet Cap'n Cakes at the SAVE point in Cyber City.
  • Cool Mixtape - Played by Queen inside her car and her Castle Town room.
  • NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO BE A (distorted) - Kris plays it as part of a physical challenge during Chapter 3's Doom Board.
  • It's Pronounced "Rules" - Kris plays it on the piano in Noelle's house in Chapter 4 + Ralsei says "Oh, that's Mr. Rouxls's theme!" if you play it on the Grand Piano.
  • Chill Jailbreak Alarm To Study And Relax To - Played on the boombox inside the Police Station.

Chapter 3 OST

  • Feature Presentation - Part of the VHS tape played by Mike at the beginning of Chapter 3.
  • Adventure Board, Quiz!, Dig! Dig! To The Center of the Earth! - Played inside The Legend of Tenna.
  • Query? - Kris plays it on the piano in Noelle's house in Chapter 4.
  • Board Clear! - Played on the title screen of The Legend of Tenna and the Original Game.
  • Paradise, Paradise, Raft Ride, SOUTH OF THE BORDER!! - Played inside The Legend of Tenna.
  • Sound Check and Raise Up Your Bat - The Gang plays them as part of a physical challenge during Board 2.
  • Doom Board - Played inside The Legend of Tenna.
  • Metaphysical Challenge - See Zapper's Mute and VolumeUp ACTs during Doom Board fights.
  • TV WORLD - Kris plays it on the piano in Noelle's house in Chapter 4.
  • It's TV Time! - The Gang plays it as part of a minigame during the final battle against Tenna.
  • Crickets - Self-explanatory.
  • SWORD, NORTHERNLIGHT, GLACEIR, BIT ROOTS, ERAM, BURNING EYES - Played inside the Original Game.

Chapter 4 OST

  • Hymn - Sung by the Church choir.
  • Knock You Down!! (Rhythm Ver.) - Can be played by the Gang in Castle Town's TV Studio.
  • Dark Sanctuary - Susie says "Yeah, that's right. Ralsei was humming it earlier." if you play it on the Grand Piano.
  • Piano that may not be played that well - Kris plays it on the piano in Noelle's house, and later, on the Grand Piano.
  • The Ol’ Jitterbug - Played on Sans's gramophone.
  • Concert for you - Kris plays it if you make them play a piano in the Light World.

2nd sanctuary probably does play in-universe as we see the wave effects produced by sound synced with the music.

all the ones you can listen to in the music shop have to be diegetic dont they? if not in their original context then at least there
thats a limited selection but iirc it would add to this list

Where did Sans and Toriel even get a gramophone

some of the songs kris can play at noelles house are renditions of other tracks
this could in theory be explained as nothing ('theyre not actually playing query, its some other song that exists in universe that just happens to sound like query') so idk how much thats really worth
but since they can play its pronounced rules (which must be diegetic since ralsei can react to it later [and even specifically notes it as rouxls's theme]) i think it makes sense to assume they are just playing the songs from the deltarune ost

I wasn't sure how it'd make sense in-universe, so I decided explicitly not to count them. Like, did the trio compose all those tracks themselves? Did they already exist? I might be overthinking it though.

You know, fair point. Added those as well.

"When I get happy/mad I dance like this," "Cool beat," and "Almost to the guys!" are also likely there, "When I get mad I dance like this" explicitly being played by K_K before the fight, and the others are also likely played by K_K and Sweet on the keyboard, respectively.

TL;DR; it's likely that all the songs related to SCC are diegetic.

See, I just took some of these songs to mean that ALL of the OST is diegetic, even if only Ralsei can hear them (as hinted at by what Susie says when Dark Sanctuary is played on the Organ Piano)

Good catch with When I Get Mad I Dance Like This! Added it. I'm not sure about Almost To The Guys! because that one's firmly in the "syncs with the environment" category.

Nah, pretty sure sweet is playing the keyboard there.

Kris does not play Acid Tunnel of Love in Noelle’s house.

He plays Lancer’s theme.

The Wiki article for Hidden Tracks explicitly states this.

same motif though, it's close enough to it to make that misteak

But the Wiki Article states it's not…

not everyone's going to double check the wiki every time they want to do something related to Deltarune

Yes, I've read the article. Lancer is in 4/4 and the song Kris plays is in 3/4. I definitely wouldn't call them the same song because of that, but I suppose you're technically correct because it's not quite Acid Tunnel of Love either. I'll change it to "Lancer (3/4 rendition)".

They

I would think only Ralsei or darkners in general can hear if it weren’t sort of strange in that case that Kris can play the songs, but also Susie definitely can’t hear

It’s very weird

My headcanon is that Kris composed them. Seems to be the most plausible explanation to me.

PRONOUN WARRIORS, RISE UP!!!
