Like I guess Flowery helped him realize that he has more to live for than just “being a Darkner” and “Serving Lightners”?

He's a mentor character that tries to help ralsei grow by showing him a different perspective and challenging his beliefs, normally in scenes with just the two of them.
(Different perspective being trying to defy the prophecy, despite knowing what happens.)
Ralsei is originally shown having a distaste for flowery, partially out of jealousy, but then comes around to truly care for him at the end.

That's me. From the start I didn't hate him but found him rather annoying, with him showing up every 3 seconds for shenanigans for the first half of the chapter, just like Queen did but on a bit lesser scale. But by the end you not only understand his motivations and that he is actually a kind-hearted and noble protagonist, but also start screaming "YEAH GET IT'S ASS FLOWERY" after he starts to chase the knight in the final dark world sequence.
