Apperantly it’s a very big deal I didn’t start a disccusion beforehand so I’m trying to start one now.
SWORD definitely does not have the motif, you listed a segment of six notes whose intervals don’t match. For a segment that short, I would expect at least intervals to match.
Your edit warring here is not appreciated. The page’s edit notice, which appears upon starting an edit to the page, clearly states not to do that, and you’ve repeatedly failed to follow these basic instructions on getting a leitmotif added to the page, the instructions that exist for the exact reason of preventing edit warring. You even continued to edit war after you failed to gather support from the community for your proposed edit. For this, I’m restricting your ability to edit the Leitmotifs page.
There may be an argument for Paradise, Paradise and Big City Board, I don’t think there’s an argument for SWORD. Regardless, typically the person who wants to make a change presents their case in favor of the change. It’s not everybody else’s responsibility to do this for you, you have the burden of proof when you want to make a change.
As others have stated, SWORD doesn’t share a motif with the other two. I also don’t think the “Part 2” is shared between Paradise, Paradise and Big City Board either. Beyond that, it seems to me that Big City Board never actually quotes any phrases from Paradise, Paradise, not even the ones that were listed as “Part 1”. At most, it seems that Big City Board borrowed some of the style from Paradise, Paradise and possibly a short rhythm. But motifs listed on the page are meant to be recurring musical lines, and occasional influence between songs doesn’t mean there are any shared musical lines. So I would say it shouldn’t be re-added unless/until the melody is used in other songs.
I would argue that Big City Board (from 0:20–0:35 and 0:48–1:03) does quote Paradise, Paradise (1:09–1:22), but other than that, the timestamps listed in the original edit do not match at all.
I would like to apologize for what I’ve done.
First of all. I shouldn’t have suddenly changed something on the page without starting a discussion beforehand. It was rather stupid of me just in general to do that, and I should have done more research on it too before changing or even sugesting something.
Second, I was honestly being a little bit rude about it and I’m sorry for that. It took me a bit too figure out what I personally though was all the motifs in the songs and it felt insulting too see it all just be removed because I “clearly didn’t read the edit notice” (wich I do think could have been worded a bit more nicely but that isn’t the point) I should have started a discussion about it when i was told to instead of being rude about it myself.
Thirdly. Part of the reason I didn’t start a discussion before (aside from be being lazy wich is completely my own fault) is because oftenly there wouldn’t be much discussion about it when i do try to start one. And sometimes (though rare) there isn’t even anyone that responded, wich made me pretty discouraged of making another post trying to start a discussion about.
I’m also going to mention that I’ve done this before and that I was honestly even more stupid about it then.
Around a week ago, I tried to add “hotel” as a leitmotif on the page with it being in “and now for todays sponsors…!” “Physical challenge” and “it’s tv time!”. Looking back, I should have absolutely started a discussion about this. Even when edditing the page I knew the connections weren’t supper strong and that there were going to be people that would dissagree. And yet my dumb ass still added it anyways. Altough this did make me look into it, and discover that the parts in physical challenge and tv time might be a motif of thier own, I shouldn’t have added it and then only added back sponsors. (Though, i do still think it has the motif)
I hope that people can accept my apologie because im really really REALLY sorry about all of this. If there ever is another time, I’ll for sure try to start a discussion first.
And lastly, altough im not sure about it being is sword, i do still think a discussion about paradise, paradise’s (possible) leitmotif(s) should be formed. Just not in this specific post. And I would love to give my reasonings for the timestamps I did make when i (unreasonably) edited the page.
And again, im really sorry this even happened. I shoule have been better.
