Starting this discussion so f-sharp stops reverting ATRIUM and SoSS additions for THE HOLY on the leitmotifs page... ch5_weird_monologue_deep is a different, more unclear case.
So, first off, ATRIUM contains THE HOLY part 1 at 0:24 to 0:28, and repeats a few times in the track, it is a bit difficult to hear because of the reverb effect put on it but if you slow the track down you can hear it quite clearly.
Sunset of Seven Suns, contains a variation on THE HOLY part 2 at 0:48 to 1:02, the video in this reddit post shows it really well, hits same notes, they're just split.
Now, ch5_weird_monologue_deep contains THE HOLY part 3, but same as the flashback portion of the track, it is cut up + quite hidden with the mixing, this video shows it well, this isn't really that much of a stretch as the excerpt version of the track DOES include part 2 of THE HOLY in it so this'd be on brand for a flashback track.
Please share your opinions on these so we can finally figure this out.
It took me a bit to hear it but it’s definitely in ATRIUM.
Same goes for monologue.
I also wanted to mention that I can very very VERY faintly hear part 2 of the holy in monologue at 0:29–0:38 but it probably isn’t there, and if anything, is most likely just the same strings that appear later in the track
ATRIUM part 1: Nope. The trill in THE HOLY stays on two notes the whole time, and ATRIUM goes higher every four notes.
ATRIUM, 0:24.000–0:29.400:
Funny enough, this is still closer to THE HOLY than two other tracks that supposedly have part 1: SWORD (1:32–1:45) and Ever Higher (1:05–1:18), neither of which even have the volume swell.
The first part of THE HOLY (just "a trill that swells from soft to loud to soft again") is barely unique enough to be a motif at all, and a supposed occurrence has no identity as THE HOLY if it's missing any of those traits.
Part 1 has been called into question multiple times: (this is just the discussions started for part 1 specifically I'm not even including when it just drifts into the conversation)
Both times it's been people saying "it's too generic" and each time the consensus by the end is that the velocity/swelling makes it distinct(or it's at least conflicted and part 1 stays). Yes, Atrium does go up over time, I just don't think that's enough to disqualify it
I am just an idiot that can't read or did you not specify any trait beyond "trill that swells"? because if that's what you're saying you've gone against you're own argument. Fully willing to accept I'm an idiot on that tho
Part 1 is not like Gaster's theme, where it's so generic any slight difference disqualifies any track from having it, sure it's not the exact same but doesn't have to be.
I meant that as "trill" and "swells" being separate traits (although I understand why that was confusing lol), and SWORD and Ever Higher fail the latter.
It is, though. The 2 notes in THE HOLY part 1 are even more generic than Gaster's Theme's 4 notes, and the only thing that gives it any identity is the repetition of those notes and the swell.
